At its Nov. 17 meeting the Spring-Ford Area School District board recognized senior Aradhana Sahu as a 2026 National Merit commended student and celebrated girls soccer, varsity football and girls volleyball for PAC and PIAA successes.
The Spring-Ford Area School District board recognized student academic and athletic achievements during its Nov. 17 meeting, naming senior Aradhana Sahu as an additional 2026 National Merit commended student and honoring three fall athletic teams for conference and district championships.
Administrators at the podium said the district learned after last month’s meeting that one more senior qualified as a National Merit commended student. "We are pleased to announce that senior Aradhana Sahu joins 27 other classmates who were named as commended students," an administrator said, and the student was presented with a certificate from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Athletic director Mike Miscavige reviewed the fall-season highlights: girls soccer finished the regular season 14-3-1 and won the PAC-10 championship, the football team rallied from a 0-4 start to capture the Liberty Division title and win the PAC championship game, and the girls volleyball team completed a 30-0 season, won the PAC championship, and secured the program’s first PIAA District 1 championship. Miscavige named head and assistant coaches for each team and noted the volleyball team reached the PIAA state final.
Board members and the superintendent praised student resilience and extracurricular programs. Superintendent Dr. Scanlon told the board that participation in after-school activities is important for student development and called the fall seasons “amazing.” Student representatives also summarized recent student events (Unity Day, Fall Play) and listed upcoming dates for winter concerts, Keystone testing and winter break.
The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal board action was taken on these items. The board moved on to committee reports and budget previews after the presentations.
What’s next: The district will continue to showcase student accomplishments at future meetings; no policy decisions were made in connection with these recognitions.
