Council approves special-use permits allowing alcohol sales and outdoor dining at the Royal Pub under new ownership

“Both the zoning board of appeals and the planning commission have recommended approval,” Heimerdinger said. Council voted to suspend the rules for final consideration (suspension passed six to two), then adopted both ordinances on final passage by unanimous recorded roll calls (8–0). The approved actions allow Mishka Inc. to continue the prior uses: sale of alcoholic beverages on-site and outdoor serving areas including drive‑in services under the city’s zoning code provisions.
Alderman Stacy asked clarifying questions about the property and confirmed that the Royal Pub will operate under the same uses as before, under new ownership. Heimerdinger emphasized that special-use permits must be reissued because they are tied to the owner.
What’s next: With the ordinances adopted, Mishka Inc. may operate the property with the previously established special uses; no additional council action on these items was scheduled at the meeting.
