Hewitt Council approves minutes and casts 75 votes for Jim Smith on appraisal district ballot

Council moved to approve the minutes of the Nov. 3, 2025 workshop. The motion was made by Mr. Stevens and seconded by Mr. Turner; a roll-call vote recorded five affirmative votes and the motion carried 5-0.
Later the council considered Resolution No. 2025-14 to cast the city's 75 votes to elect directors to the McLennan Central Appraisal District board for a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026. After brief discussion of the three nominees (Duane Moss, Jim Patton and Jim Smith), the council moved to cast the city's 75 votes for Jim Smith. The motion passed by a 5-0 vote. The resolution directs city staff to transmit the city's ballot as required by the appraisal district deadline.
No other item required a council vote during the workshop portion of the evening; other agenda items were informational presentations and discussion.
