Multiple zoning items and a recycling-center upgrade placed on county schedule for December

The Loudon County Commission workshop included several planning and infrastructure items that the commission directed staff to place on upcoming agendas.
Jim Jenkins presented three zoning-related items the planning commission recommended for action: (a) a resolution to amend the Loudon County zoning resolution by removing the cluster option development provision (Article 5, Section 5.45.d), (b) a rezoning from B-1 (suburban residential) to C-2 (general commercial) for tax map 68 parcels 24 and 24.08 on Chattooga Drive to allow an assisted-living facility (8- and 4-bed configurations were noted), and (c) a resolution closing the end of Cove Lane in the Lakeview subdivision. Jenkins said those items will be on the Dec. 1 commission agenda for formal consideration.
Separately, an official described planned improvements to the Lenoir City convenience/recycling center under a new lease with Norfolk Southern Railroad for roughly two acres, including a new 200-by-30-foot asphalt area, relocation of the recycling shed and additional compactors to reduce overflow and improve operations.
What’s next: items a, b and c were scheduled for the Dec. 1 meeting; the convenience-center improvements are an operational announcement and will proceed under the new lease and staff coordination.
