Tehachapi staff recap Breast Cancer Awareness activities, announce holiday events and $3,000 hat fundraiser split

City staff reported on community engagement activities and outlined the city’s holiday events calendar.
Jessica told the council the city proclaimed October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and hosted an Oct. 11 walk and health fair at Railroad Park attended by more than 100 people. Participating organizations included Houchin, Kerr Medical Massage, Evans Health, AIS Cancer Center, the Tehachapi Cancer Foundation, Cedars-Sinai Cancer Outreach and Synchrony Medical Group. The city sold about 150 special-edition hats at $20 each and expects to split roughly $3,000 in proceeds between the Tehachapi Cancer Foundation and Adventist Health AIS Cancer Center.
Staff (Bailey and Jessica) also described upcoming holiday attractions: a Christmas tree at the Depot Museum and a 'snowfall' display beginning Nov. 19 (Fridays–Sundays), a Snow Globe interactive experience the week of Nov. 24, a Reindeer Rush scavenger hunt from Nov. 29–Jan. 5 with 41 participating businesses and Hometown Christmas on Dec. 6 (noon–4 p.m.). The Greater Tashley Chamber of Commerce parade is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.; public works installed new bollards along the parade route for safety.
