Board spotlights students and staff, honors FFA and athletic teams
Summary
Laramie County School District #1 trustees recognized students of the week, FFA national and reserve-champion teams, cross-country state champions and an employee spotlight for a paraeducator during the meeting.
Trustees opened the meeting by recognizing students, staff and student groups for academic and extracurricular achievements.
An eighth-grade student, recorded in the meeting as Bailey Lisonbee, was named student of the week from Keurig/Carey Junior High; Principal Matt Schlegel and teacher Ella Parrish praised her classroom performance and leadership. Another student, Triumph High senior Chris Clark, was honored as a student of the week; Principal Mike Maloney and teacher Amber Martins spoke about his academic strengths and plans to pursue a real estate license.
The board recognized Central High School27s 4A girls cross-country state champions; Coach Sean Wilde described the team27s season and character. East High School FFA teams and individuals received national recognition, including top placements at the national convention and reserve national-team results in agriscience and horse evaluation; advisors noted multiple students placed in the top national tiers.
South High School principal Carrie Gentry introduced Denise Aldania as the employee spotlight, and Aldania described her work supporting students and staff.
Western Vista Federal Credit Union provided certificates and small gift cards as part of the student-of-the-week program; a Western Vista representative identified in the record as Ryan Sanoski presented the awards.
The recognitions were ceremonial and no formal board action was required.
