Washington County Commissioners Court on Nov. 18 introduced Adrianna (Adriana) Williams as the county’s new Prairie View A&M extension agent for agriculture and natural resources. Williams told the court she will prioritize sustainable farming, disaster management, crop production support and direct outreach to local producers.
Williams described an incentive program in development that would fund soil sampling before planting and again after harvest to help farmers adopt nutrient‑management and irrigation practices. "What we'll do is we'll pay an incentive for you to adopt some of our sustainable farming plans," Williams said. She also offered to connect producers with resources for hog trapping and other local needs.
Court members welcomed Williams and encouraged her to return to provide ongoing updates. Williams said she will make contact information available once business cards are ready. The introduction was presented during the regular commissioners court session; there was no formal vote on the appointment at the meeting.
Next steps: Williams said she will continue outreach to producers in Washington County and provide more information on the soil‑sampling incentive program as it develops.
