Weber County adopts ordinance to consolidate county planning commissions

The Weber County Commission approved the final reading of Ordinance 2025-27 on Nov. 18, 2025, to dissolve the existing two planning commissions and establish a single planning commission for all unincorporated areas of the county.
Cortland Erickson reviewed the statutory authority that allows the county to combine planning commissions. He explained the ordinance responds to the incorporation of Ogden Valley City, which removed some of the existing jurisdiction from the former Ogden Valley Planning Commission. The ordinance would dissolve both existing planning commissions and form a countywide commission, effective Dec. 3, 2025.
A motion to adopt Ordinance 2025-27 was moved, seconded and approved via roll call. The commission recorded affirmative votes and announced the motion carried.
Next steps: county staff will effect the transition, publish the ordinance, and proceed with appointments and administrative updates needed to operate the single planning commission.
