Weber County certifies Ogden Valley City election results after high turnout

The Weber County Commission convened as the Board of Canvassers on Nov. 18, 2025, and certified the Ogden Valley City results from the 2025 general election after elections staff reviewed turnout and ballot dispositions.
Elections manager Lauren Schaeffer told the board Ogden Valley City had 4,943 registered voters and a 70.26% turnout. Of 3,473 ballots counted, 21 were provisionals (18 counted, three rejected for insufficient ID). The office mailed 5,046 ballots; 1,573 were not returned. Schaeffer outlined reasons for uncounted ballots, including 88 returned past the deadline and instances of unsigned or mismatched envelopes.
Schaeffer then reported the certified winners: Janet Wampler for mayor (1,998 votes); Tia V. Shaw for city council seat 1 (377); Peggy Dooling Baker for seat 2 (397); Kaye Hoagland for seat 3 (531); Chad Booth for seat 4 (593); and Don Hickman for seat 5 (441).
Commissioners moved to certify the results as presented; the motion passed unanimously and the board reconvened the public commission meeting.
Next steps: the certified results will be entered into the county’s official records and any outstanding provisional-ballot challenges will follow established election-office procedures.
