Arlington council ratifies three director appointments, approves two change orders and schedules executive session

Arlington City Council confirmed three department directors and approved two construction change orders during its regular meeting.

City staff requested ratification of previously hired directors that were missed during prior confirmation: Marty Ray for airport director, Amy Roscoe (transcript earlier spelled differently) for community and economic development director, and Shelby Burke for finance director. A councilmember moved to confirm and ratify the three appointments; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

The council approved change order No. 2 for the SR 530 utility crossing (fiber installation), which staff said covered sales tax omitted from the contractor's bid; council authorized the mayor to sign the change order. Council also approved change order No. 4 for the 211th Place Improvement Project, a final adjustment totaling $60,622.27 to cover signal revisions requested by Snohomish County, the addition of a pedestrian light, pond corrections and stormwater trash racks; council will consider final acceptance when the project closure items are completed.

After routine council comments and brief commendations to Public Works for recent Division and Broadway improvements and to volunteers at the Steely Valley Senior Center fair, the council announced it would adjourn into an executive session to review the performance of a public employee under the state statute cited in the meeting. The council returned to open session, moved to adjourn and concluded the meeting.
