Dalton grants 65-day extension for airport hangar project after supply delays

The Dalton City Mayor and Council approved a 65-calendar-day contract extension Nov. 17 to allow completion of an airport hangar development project, staff said.
Andrew told council the notice to proceed issued in mid-April included a 180-day calendar completion schedule; lead-time issues for prefabricated metal buildings delayed progress. He said two of the three hangars are substantially complete and that the contractor is working on tee hangars and interior build-outs.
Andrew said the airport authority had unanimously recommended the 65-day extension and that Mr. Wiersma had reported favorably on the contractor's progress at the authority's prior meeting. A motion to approve the extension was made and approved by voice vote.
