Dalton approves no-parking zone on Loveland Lane and Castle Road after safety concerns

Dalton City Council approved a traffic-control change Nov. 17 establishing no parking on both sides of Loveland Lane and Castle Road, staff said.
Chad explained the request stems from evaluations by the fire and police departments and concerns raised by Dalton Public Schools bus service and multiple citizens about sight-line and safety issues. Chad said the new no-parking zone will incorporate two existing no-parking segments on Loveland and Castle and allow temporary on-street parking only for home-maintenance service vehicles and delivery vehicles.
Resident David Elrod had earlier addressed the council to describe sight-line problems on Castle Road that force buses and motorists to use the oncoming lane, calling the situation "terrifying." A motion to approve the traffic-control change was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
