Henderson County court honors Revolutionary War history, accepts donations and approves routine contracts and permits

Henderson County Commissioners Court on a unanimous vote approved a slate of routine and ceremonial items, including a historical commemoration, multiple donations, contract renewals and right‑of‑way agreements.
Bill Suckle of the Sons of the American Revolution gave a historical presentation about key 1775 events leading to the Declaration of Independence and presented a resolution for the court to adopt; the court approved the commemorative resolution and encouraged citizens to join local observances.
The court accepted a picnic table donated to the Henderson County Juvenile Probation Department by a juvenile who completed vocational training. Blue Nicholson, identified as chief juvenile probation officer, described the department's outcomes, saying the department is “about 8% lower in recidivism compared to other departments throughout the state of Texas” and “about 9% lower in recidivism compared to all the other departments statewide.”
Commissioners also approved acceptance of a large batch of surplus radio equipment donated by the City of Carrollton, noting the inventory lists roughly 577 units (9 control stations, 213 mobiles, 355 portables) and that staff expect only a portion to be made operational (estimate given: ~10% → ~57 radios).
The court approved two three‑year renewals with Granicus for the county's open‑records portal and maintenance, authorized enrollment of county employees in the Texas Association of Counties cybersecurity training program (the county had 285 users last year at $5 per user), and approved several right‑of‑way notices for Brightspeed and Spectrum to install fiber, as well as Moore Station Water Supply Company to repair leaks.
Other routine approvals included a 12‑month extension of the county's waste‑hauling agreement with Republic Services and selection of 5 Star Correctional Services for inmate food services at the Jonas Justice Center. The court also approved small drainage and roadwork projects (Westwood Beach emergency drainage repairs and work in New York Cemetery under Texas Health and Safety Code §713.028).
The meeting concluded after approving payroll distributions and bills. The court adjourned at 10:02 a.m.
