Commissioners and the district attorney framed the added cost as a tradeoff for quicker lab results and more timely testimony from forensic scientists during prosecutions.
The court approved the contract with authorization for the county judge to sign. Next steps include implementing the contract and continuing coordination between the district attorney's office and the contracted laboratory providers.
