Kennebec County Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved several grants and intergovernmental agreements, voting unanimously to accept an OCA grant and to authorize the chairman to sign two memoranda of understanding with Unity Plantation.
At the meeting, a motion to approve the OCA grant was made and seconded; commissioners recorded unanimous aye votes. Later in the meeting the board reviewed two Unity agreements: an annual snowplowing contract with contractor Alec Reynolds and an EMS memorandum of understanding for Unity to provide emergency medical services. Commissioners moved to authorize the chairman to sign both agreements; the motions were seconded and votes were recorded as aye.
The participants characterized both items as part of the county’s routine, budgeted operations: the snowplow contract was noted as “already part of the budget,” and the EMS MOU likewise was represented as consistent with budget committee materials. No dissent or abstentions were recorded on these items.
Next steps: the chairman will execute the agreements as authorized, and staff will file the signed MOUs with county records.
