Assistant security director presents updated district safety plan, highlights AED/CPR training for students

Adam Lobani, the district’s assistant director of security, presented the updated Connetquot Central School Districtwide Safety Plan for the 2025–26 school year and described new cardiac‑arrest emergency‑response procedures and training initiatives.

Lobani said the plan — developed by a district safety team including board representatives, administrators and community members — was first presented July 1 and updated to reflect a state amendment that adds a cardiac arrest emergency‑response section. He described key elements: identifying cardiac arrests, tracking who is certified to use AEDs, clear knowledge of AED locations, and training and certification for staff. Lobani described a program led by Don Flynn’s team that provided basic CPR and AED‑use training to high‑school and middle‑school students during gym class and age‑appropriate instruction for younger students.

Board members asked whether pandemic‑related language in the plan should be updated to refer more generally to a pandemic situation; Lobani and others said that language had been carried forward and remained part of the plan. Lobani distinguished between certification (formal credentialing) and basic training, noting some staff and students received hands‑on training though it was not Red Cross certification.

The presentation was informational; no formal action was taken. Board members acknowledged the training and commended staff who ran the program. The district indicated the plan is regularly updated and that the building‑level versions contain sensitive security details and are not part of the public packet.
