Jackson County approves Upstream Solutions contracts to support Drug-Free Communities grant work

Jackson County supervisors on Nov. 18 approved two contracts with Julie Fern, doing business as Upstream Solutions, to support work on the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grant.
Staff described the first contract as up to $3,000 using carryover funds from the prior-year DFC grant to provide technical assistance to Dawn Nelson and the local coalition on program operations and the connection between the coalition and the grant. The second contract is for up to $300 from the DFC budget for translation services and assistance completing the annual report in July–August, a budgeted line that must be used in accordance with federal grant rules.
A motion to approve and authorize the chair’s signature on each contract — both pending CDC/DFC grant budget approval — was made and approved by the board.
Shelley introduced the contracts and asked the board for motions; motions were made and seconded with unanimous approval. The contracts are contingent on grant budget approval and will be executed consistent with the notice of award and federal grant guidelines.
What’s next: Once CDC/DFC (grantor) budget approval is confirmed, the chair will sign the contracts and Upstream Solutions will deliver technical assistance and translation/report support as described.
