City council and county supervisors approve CJCC bylaws in joint meeting

The Flagstaff City Council and the Coconino County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 17 voted to adopt the bylaws of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), which the CJCC director said will formalize cross-jurisdictional collaboration.
Diana Calandros, CJCC director, presented the bylaws attached to the meeting agenda and asked both bodies to accept them. The city council motion to approve was moved and seconded on the record; the council voice vote was recorded as "Aye." For the county board, Supervisor Begay moved the motion and Supervisor Ontiveros seconded; the board’s vote was unanimous and the chair declared the bylaws approved.
Calandros told the joint session the bylaws will help the CJCC coordinate justice partners across agencies, and Judge Ted Reid, the CJCC chair, emphasized the collaborative nature of the council, noting it brings together law enforcement, prosecutors, the courts and community partners to develop non‑duplicative responses to justice-system challenges. The meeting record shows no amendments to the bylaws were requested at the Nov. 17 hearing.
The bylaws were accepted by both bodies during the joint meeting; Calandros thanked council and board members for their support. The item requires implementation steps within CJCC operations and no additional city or county ordinance was enacted at the meeting.
