The Elyria Utility Safety and Environment Committee on Nov. 19 approved three mayoral appointments to the Elyria Demolition Board of Appeals for the 2026–2028 term and also approved minutes from prior meetings, the committee reported.
The city’s Safety Service Director told the committee the board is a standing municipal panel that has been “not ... called into action in recent memory,” but that the city needs a full slate in case someone appeals a demolition order or another action that falls under the board’s jurisdiction. He said two nominees are reappointments and all three have agreed to serve.
Committee chair read the committee report, which identified Joe Rogers as a new appointment. A motion to approve the appointments was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote; the transcript records members responding “aye” and the chair declaring the motion carried. The committee also approved the utility committee minutes from Oct. 8, 2025, and minutes from the joint utilities and finance meeting on Nov. 10, 2025, both by voice vote.
