Instructional Services told trustees the district’s SBAC math achievement rose at multiple sites, several schools improved English-learner progress, and the district is not in state 'differentiated assistance'; chronic absenteeism rose and was flagged for follow-up.
Lenox Instructional Services presented newly released California Dashboard and SBAC data showing across-the-district gains in math and positive signals for English learners.
The district reported average daily attendance above 90% for three consecutive months. Jefferson Elementary led district math gains (+5 points), Moffett showed improvements (+3 points), and Beaufort was highlighted as a top-performing elementary campus with 47% of students meeting or exceeding standards. Instructional staff also pointed to substantial gains among English learners: several schools moved into green rankings on the English Learner Progress indicator, and recently reclassified English learners were described as performing well above standards in ELA.
Staff cautioned that while math gains were encouraging, ELA performance was more flat and chronic absenteeism increased—a metric the dashboard flags separately from average daily attendance. The district said it is not in state-level differentiated assistance and will continue site-level data analyses, strategic planning aligned to the LCAP and targeted interventions for student groups that need immediate support.
Trustees asked about public access to the dashboard and federal-level reporting; staff said the California Dashboard is public and federal targeted-support lists will be released by the state later and are still being analyzed at the district level. Next steps include deep data dives by principals and directors and the creation of site strategic plans.
