After bids exceeded earlier estimates, staff reviewed plans with a local contractor and the River Center board to confirm available funding. Staff reported committed funds and grants totaling roughly $223,400 plus other River Center fundraising that together make the project feasible; the DNR was notified of the bid results and approved the contractor selection.
A motion to award the contract to Meridian Contracting (low bidder) for the 2025 Duck Park pavilion and restroom project carried after council discussion about rising construction costs, availability, and matching funds. Staff noted Meridian has worked for the city before and the build is planned for spring, scheduling dependent on contractor availability.
