Tucker Creek/Havelock Middle School construction to begin Dec. 1; board directs policy 21‑20 revision

He emphasized coordination with Craven County planning and the city of Havelock on outstanding permitting items and noted the district and contractors are committed to the completion date for opening in the 2027–28 school year.
Policy 21‑20 (board member code of ethics): members compared the district’s existing text with the North Carolina School Boards Association model policy and discussed restoring language to clarify that board members should not conduct independent investigations and that confidentiality and conflict‑of‑interest language be explicit. The chair directed staff to reconcile the two versions and return revised language for first read at the next work session.
