"They're very amenable and are keen to try to make things synergize... whether they be culinary, fine arts, workforce opportunities that may be happening within redevelopment in downtown," a staff member said. The college's board will consider the participation item at a Nov. 19 meeting at 6 p.m.
Board members said they expect the college to return to the city in the same form after the college's internal action and expressed optimism that downtown collaboration could proceed without the long delays seen in other intergovernmental efforts.
Next steps: staff will follow up on Webb County's execution of documents and monitor the Laredo College board action; if both entities commit, staff will prepare formal items for city council consideration.
