Artist injured near power lines; board to coordinate safety meeting before murals resume

"He actually called today, and we can coordinate a meeting, before moving on forward with the process. He's in better conditions right now. He's more stable. He's willing to work and continue the mural," said Bruneda (staff), describing coordination plans and confirming the city will include legal and economic-development staff in the visit.
Board members emphasized safety and suggested meeting the artist before he resumed work and making any modest design adjustments that would reduce exposure to high lifts or second-floor work. Staff said one mural candidate (Emily Bayless) is in the process of securing a downtown location and other referred artists remain interested pending site agreements and funding availability.
Next steps: staff will arrange the safety meeting with the artist and legal; staff will return to the board in December with the murals that are in the pipeline for formal consideration.
