The Eureka City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1048 CS on Nov. 18, approving the city's local responsibility-area fire hazard severity zone map as provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).
Chief Citro presented the item as the second reading; Council member Mario Fernandez moved to waive full reading, read by title only, and adopt the ordinance. The motion received a second and passed on a 5–0 vote.
Council members did not request additional public comment and there were no public speakers on the item during the meeting.
The ordinance adopts the CAL FIRE-provided map for the city's local responsibility areas and moves the item forward consistent with state guidance on hazard zoning.
