Council members moved to suspend the rules and conduct a first-and-final reading so the ordinance could be considered and adopted that evening. Mayor (name not provided) explained the change was necessary because the city recently opened a new dog park at Meyer Park and the existing park rules needed an explicit exception for dog parks.
Alder Prophet moved to suspend the rules and take up the ordinance as a first-and-final reading; Alder Johnson seconded. The suspension and the ordinance adoption were approved by voice vote and recorded as unanimous.
The ordinance will be published and Parks and Recreation staff were directed to update park signage and enforcement guidance to reflect the dog-park exception.
