County staff told commissioners that the county’s contract with Axon Enterprises for the district attorney’s evidence application and storage was effectively canceled and replaced after legislative changes required additional features.
An MIS representative said Axon made contractual changes in response to recent legislation and the vendor is starting a new contract that includes new features now required by the DA’s office. The staff member said the change was handled quickly and that the arrangement is cost-neutral for the current year because the vendor applied payments already made after the June contract renewal toward the new contract. Officials said costs will remain the same through the next year and may increase thereafter as extra features take effect.
Kirk Martin was identified in the meeting as a person who could answer questions about the legislative changes prompting Axon’s alteration of the contract. Commissioners approved the staff recommendation on the consent docket; the transcript records motions and an 'aye' voice vote.
