JustServe honors Mapleton; residents report food‑assistance metrics

He described JustServe as a free, web‑ and mobile‑based platform that connects volunteers and nonprofit organizations; he told the council the platform has enlisted more than one million volunteers worldwide and encouraged residents to download the app to find local service opportunities.
Jody read the plaque’s citation, thanking Mapleton for uniting the community "with hope and goodness through service." The mayor and council thanked the presenters and praised volunteerism as a defining community value.
During public comment immediately after the presentation, resident Gail Higgins reported on Tabitha's Way activity for the July–September quarter: in Mapleton the organization assisted 88 households (309 individuals) and provided 13,905 meals. Higgins also noted the Mapleton Youth City Council recently contributed 633 pounds of food in a local drive and said Tabitha's Way will host Thanksgiving and a Christmas‑morning giveaway; she requested the group’s digital flyer be posted on the city building’s digital board and offered to provide an email contact to staff.
