Council previews traffic code rewrite, sewer fee ordinance and other agenda items

The chair summarized two principal legislative items: the mayor’s proposed general fund budget (listed for first reading) and File (Council) No. 6 of 2025, an ordinance that would repeal and re‑enact Section 29‑103 of the city code (traffic and motor vehicles) to address bus and truck issues. Councilor Burisco publicly thanked the city attorney’s office for quickly rewriting the traffic ordinance, saying the change was intended to address “buses, trucks, and the headaches that have been causing... residents.” Several councilors said they had received constituent calls on the matter.
Councilors also noted an amendment to Article 2 of Chapter 30 related to sewer annual rental and maintenance fees; during the work session there were no questions on that item. Separately, a councilor asked staff to perform a cleanup/sweep of Winter Lane when weather permitted.
None of these items produced a formal vote in the work session; the matters will appear on the council’s Thursday agenda for formal consideration.
