Canton Township adopts fiscal year 2026 budget with modest revenue boost

The Canton Township Board of Trustees adopted its fiscal year 2026 budget on Nov. 18 following a public hearing and a Finance Department presentation.
Amanda from the township's Finance Department summarized the plan, saying the 2026 general fund is $43,170,569, police funding is $34,414,960 and fire is $25,981,376. "We increased state shared revenue to 11,077,000," she said. The presentation noted the board adjusted estimates after a prior study session and that property tax rates were set at a public hearing on Sept. 9.
The budget includes pre-funding for OPEB and pension obligations and carried forward the capital program presented at the earlier study session. Clerk Seager moved to adopt the budget resolution and Treasurer Slavens supported the motion; the board approved it by voice vote.
