Forest Hills Foundation reports more than $147,000 raised and $140,000 awarded in teacher grants

Mona Hale, communications director for the Forest Hills Foundation for Education, reported to the board that the foundation’s recent Denim & Diamonds event grossed "over $147,000," exceeding its goal. Hale said more than 300 people participated, there were more than 70 auction items and that volunteers made the event successful.
Hale also summarized the foundation’s "Rooted in Hope and Strength" fall campaign, which raised over $14,000 and was matched by the Hayden Family Foundation for a total of more than $28,000. She said those funds supported Nagel’s after-school clubs and secondary-level mental-health programming.
Hale reported that the foundation recently awarded about $140,000 in teacher grants and that the next cycle—student-led grants (formerly PTO community grants)—anticipates awarding approximately $25,000 in January. The presenter said each school principal receives impact flyers listing specific grants awarded to that school, and principals or PTOs distribute those items in newsletters and school communications.
The board and foundation discussed sharing a district-wide webpage listing grants and impacts; Hale said principals receive school-specific lists and that the foundation and district communications work with principals and PTOs to share impact flyers and targeted emails.
