Teammate Liana Navarro said the petition collected 144 signatures within two days and described attempts to meet with athletics staff and administrators. ‘‘We sent an email to Mr. Enyart requesting a meeting and were told he could not discuss the matter,’’ Navarro said. She said they later reached out to Mrs. Novak and received a meeting request later in the week, which the students said felt too slow given the immediacy of the issue.
Board members did not take formal action on the request during the meeting. Board remarks later praised the students for their decorum in presenting public comment; Dr. Malco said the board would follow up on parent-teacher-related feedback and the administration indicated it would schedule meetings with concerned parties. The public comment period concluded without a vote or formal direction recorded on the coach’s employment status.
