Summary
The Connellsville board authorized administration to process a LERDA tax-abatement request for a proposed real-estate project (multiple tax parcels) conditional on city/county approvals and voted to apply for a $1.4 million Public School Facility Improvement Program grant for an elementary roof project.
During its November meeting the Connellsville Area School District board approved two items relating to facilities and economic development.
The finance committee moved to approve a property application submitted by Armed Real Estate Holding LLC for multiple tax parcels in Connellsville (tax map numbers provided in the motion) and authorized district administration to administer and approve a LERDA request conditional on approval by the City of Connellsville and Fayette County. A presenter explained LERDA delays increases in tax assessment for new construction for a five-year period so the tax bill remains at prior levels for that term; after five years the property is assessed to normal value and taxes increase accordingly.
Separately, the Buildings & Grounds chair moved to apply for and accept the Public School Facility Improvement Program grant in the amount of $1,400,000 for the Springfield CMP Elementary roof project. Both motions were seconded and carried.
Board members approved donations acceptance for several club and memorial gifts during the same finance report.
