The Carson City School District Board of Trustees adopted its Nov. 17 agenda and approved several procedural items, including an appointment to the district’s Family Life Advisory Committee.
President Ramirez opened the meeting and Trustee Walt moved to adopt the agenda as submitted; Trustee Varner seconded and the motion carried with no board discussion or public comment.
Sheila Story, chief nurse for the school district and chair of the Family Life Advisory Committee, introduced Megan Bottom as the candidate nominated to serve as the committee’s religious representative. Story said Bottom had served three years on the committee and brought experience as a pastor at the Northern Nevada Dream Center and as an employee of Gentiva Hospice. “She’s very well accomplished, and she brings a lot to our committee,” Story said.
Trustee Barner moved to approve Megan Bottom’s appointment for a three‑year term from January 2026 through December 2028; Trustee Roberts seconded. There was no public comment and the motion carried.
Later in the meeting Trustee Wahl moved and Trustee Bartner seconded approval of the consent agenda as presented; the trustees voted to approve the consent items with no board discussion and no public comment.
The board did not record roll‑call vote tallies in the transcript; minutes will reflect the formal actions and the appointment term. The district will notify the Family Life Advisory Committee and publish the committee schedule for trustee observation as offered by Story.
The board continued with its agenda, including presentations on student recognitions and district data.
