UN condemns overnight attacks on Ukraine, urges immediate ceasefire
Steph, UN spokesperson, told reporters the secretary-general "strongly condemns the latest overnight missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation on several Ukrainian regions" and said the strikes "reportedly killed at least 25 people, including children, and injured several dozen others."

The spokesperson said attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure "violate international humanitarian law" and are "unacceptable wherever they occur." She said the violence "once again underlines the urgency of a full and unconditional ceasefire in this conflict as a first step towards a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace that fully upholds Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders."

Steph also reported that Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DeCarlo was in Kyiv and had met Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kashka and Foreign Minister Andrei Sibija. DeCarlo ‘‘was appalled by the overnight attacks,’’ according to the spokesperson, and discussed how the United Nations can further support recovery, social cohesion and the role of women in public life.

The spokesperson pointed to the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs website for DeCarlo's full remarks and said the UN humanitarian coordinator for Ukraine, Mateusz Shmali, also issued a statement condemning the attacks.
