The staff member said the city would use cooperative purchasing through Sourcewell and contract with Rosenbauer to secure pricing and queue position.
Council members said keeping a multi-year rotation on apparatus purchases helps manage the city’s budget and avoid placing a single-year burden on taxpayers. One council member noted the department recently received "a brand new engine," and staff contrasted that prior purchase (a medic/ambulance) as already paid for while this engine represents a larger expense.
The resolution (introduced in the meeting as "Resolution number 20 25 days 1 16") was moved and placed on the floor for a vote. A roll-call voice vote followed with each present member recorded as voting in favor; the presiding officer announced the resolution adopted.
Next steps identified during the discussion were to complete the cooperative purchase paperwork and place the order before the year’s end to secure pricing and delivery scheduling. The council adjourned the special meeting and planned a short working session on the budget afterward.
