Council approves Taco Bell site plan with sidewalk and permitting contingencies

The Decorah City Council voted to approve a site plan from Marvin Development 6 LLC for a new Taco Bell on Lots F and J in the 2000 block of Iowa 9, east of the Fairfield Inn and Suites.
City staff and the city engineer’s review identified several items that must be resolved before construction: the applicant must be the legal owner before construction begins, a city address must be shown on final plans when assigned, the applicant must verify access easements for site access via the frontage road and Short Street South, and sidewalks may be required by council and should be shown in the site plan documents. Staff recommended council approval be contingent on items 1–4, and Planning & Zoning made the same recommendation.
Councilmember Andrew Olsen moved to approve the site plan with those contingencies; the motion passed on roll call with all councilmembers voting aye. The council clarified that signage must later be approved by the zoning administrator and that the applicant remains responsible for obtaining required permits.
