Staff updates: new city hall progress, election filing dates and community events announced

Miss Addington updated the council on operational and community items. She said the new city hall is progressing (carpeting and painting underway), staff move is planned for the week of Dec. 8, and a ribbon cutting is expected in early spring. She said the 2026 calendar planning will include monthly council workshops and encouraged council engagement on mission, vision and priorities.
Addington relayed candidacy filing details: filing opens Dec. 9 at 8 a.m.; available offices include one council member in each Ward (1–4) for four‑year terms; filings after Dec. 9 will be by appointment with Laura, the city clerk; filing closes Dec. 30 from 3–5 p.m. She said a UB letter about the new utility billing system is scheduled for mid‑December and will be shared with council before distribution to residents.
Addington said this was her last meeting on the dais and thanked staff, singling out Karen and Rachel Wright Grama for leadership and support, and announced Colton Harris will attend the next council meeting on Dec. 9. Mayor remarks followed, thanking veterans and staff, urging safety for the Thanksgiving holiday and noting completion efforts on stormwater issues at Rankin Acres. The mayor also promoted Republic Chamber lunch (Dec. 2), Ozarks Transportation Organization meeting, Children’s Miracle Network Week (Dec. 1–7) and Christmas on Main Street (Dec. 6).
