The Twinsburg City School District Board of Education took a series of routine but consequential votes at its meeting.
Personnel and contracts: The board accepted certified staff recommendations, classified staff recommendations and supplemental-contract recommendations as presented in the meeting exhibits pending satisfactory background checks. The bundled motion was moved by Ms. Egan and seconded by Ms. Davis; a roll-call vote recorded all five voting members in favor (recorded as 5 yes) for the bundle where recorded. On a supplemental-contract item that referenced an employee named Ryan Davis, one board member reiterated a standing abstention on matters involving that name; the item passed with four yes votes and one abstention.
Donations and services: The board approved a $1,000 donation to the Dodge Intermediate School PTA and authorized a contract with Beachbrook in Cleveland to provide child-abuse-prevention programming to Wilcox and RBC Chamberlain Elementary students, as required by SB 288. The Beachbrook contract will be funded with disadvantaged-impact-aid funds as described in the board documentation.
Special services and transportation: The board approved an independent educational evaluation (IEE) not to exceed $5,005.75 charged to the general fund for one student. Transportation services for the Dodge Ski Club and other athletic travel plans were approved as described in the supporting documents; overnight student trips were authorized (example: eighth-grade Washington, D.C. trip Oct. 6–8; boys basketball trip to Tampa Dec. 26–31) with payments to be covered by participating students or booster/athletic accounts as specified.
Handbook and policy changes: The board approved modifications to the Twinsburg High School and RBC Chamberlain Middle School handbooks related to personal communication devices to comply with the new state prohibition on student cell-phone use during the instructional day; the board recorded unanimous approval (5 yes) for the handbook revisions, which will take effect Jan. 1, 2026.
Appointment: The board resolved to appoint Rhonda Crawford to the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) JVSD board for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026. The board noted it reviewed applicable statutory requirements (Ohio Revised Code §3311.19). The appointee abstained from the vote because her name was on the appointment; the resolution passed with four yes votes and one abstention.
Next steps: Several approvals relied on supporting documents filed with the board; no litigation or further board-directed investigations were announced during the meeting. The board adjourned at approximately 6:43 p.m.
