At the start of the meeting, the board opened with a statement that the Twinsburg community is grieving the death of a ninth grade student, London Brown, and observed a moment of silence. The speaker noted a vigil at Liberty Park the previous evening and urged families and students who are struggling to use district counseling and external community mental-health resources. The board also said a family-established GoFundMe is available for those who wish to offer financial support.
The board emphasized that grief affects people differently and encouraged students, parents and staff to reach out for help. District staff reiterated that school counselors and the district’s people services office can assist with referrals to outside providers.
No formal action was taken regarding the incident during the meeting. Board members then moved on to routine recognitions and agenda items, including honoring Students of the Month across elementary, intermediate and high schools.
