The Village of Salem Lakes board confirmed its selection for village administrator during the Nov. 18 meeting and set a Jan. 5 start date for the new hire.
Jay, who led the recruitment, said the village received 19 applications and conducted interviews of three finalists. President introduced the candidate as Michael (name appears in the meeting record in two forms; the candidate identified himself during his remarks as chief of police for National Falls, Minnesota). In his remarks, Michael described roughly 20 years of public-service experience, cited a criminal-justice degree and a master’s degree in public administration, and said his top priorities would be transparency, accountability, integrity and outreach to community members.
A board member who participated in the interviews said the panel was impressed and the board moved to confirm the appointment. The motion to confirm passed by recorded vote.
The board indicated it will issue a press release and provide hard-copy materials for media; the village listed the new administrator’s planned start date as Jan. 5.
