Putnam County re‑elects Chair Wilkinson; Commissioner Pellicer named vice chair

Chairwoman Wilkinson was re‑elected to another one‑year term at the Putnam County Board of County Commissioners meeting on Nov. 18 after colleagues nominated her and closed nominations by motion. Administrator Terry Suggs opened nominations and said the moderator would call for a motion if only one name was placed; Commissioner Suggs and other commissioners praised Wilkinson’s leadership before the vote.
"On behalf of your staff and the residents of Putnam County, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your leadership," Administrator Suggs said in nominating remarks. Wilkinson, in brief remarks after the vote, listed top priorities and accomplishments for the year including establishing a community paramedicine program, opening a new animal services facility and adopting a rollback of the millage rate to reduce taxes.
The board then opened nominations for vice chair. Commissioner Pellicer was nominated and appointed by acclamation after a motion and unanimous voice vote. The board paused briefly after the leadership votes and then moved on to the Port Authority session.
The election followed standard procedure for Putnam County’s annual leadership selection and did not require a roll‑call vote because both offices were filled by acclamation when no alternative nominees were offered. The board did not set any new leadership duties beyond the customary chair and vice‑chair roles; commissioners thanked Wilkinson for her year of service.
