Councilor Razak announced an ordinance committee meeting set for Thursday, Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. Councilor Farwell criticized the council’s routine acceptance of late files, saying the practice makes it difficult for residents and business groups to review materials, attend meetings and understand potential impacts. Farwell urged adherence to the normal filing deadline (noon on the Tuesday preceding council meetings) and suggested more transparent handling of substantive zoning matters so the public can participate meaningfully.
No substantive zoning decisions were made at the meeting; the ordinance committee and planning board will review the proposal and the public hearing process will follow statutory notice and hearing requirements.
