CHSD 94 board approves auditorium renovation, roof replacement, fund transfer and three-year food services contract

The Community High School District 94 Board of Education voted Nov. 18 to approve a series of capital projects, vendor contracts and a transfer of funds tied to planned 2026 facility work.
The board approved agreements with Allied Facility Partners of Algonquin for renovation work on the Weyrich Auditorium and a memorandum of understanding with DLA Architects Inc., of Itasca, for professional services related to the auditorium project. Board members then approved a proposal from Olsen Roofing Inc., Aurora, to replace a specified roof section for $416,015.
Dan, the district’s Executive Director of Business Services, told the board the transfer originally presented as $2,000,000 from the Operations & Maintenance Fund to the Capital Projects Fund was adjusted in the packet to $1,500,000 because an IDEA grant funded a portion of the step transition apartment. "I've actually changed that number to $1,500,000," he said, explaining the adjustment tied to grant funding.
The board also authorized administration to file the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) FY '26 school maintenance grant for permanent improvement projects and approved the required certification. Separately, trustees approved a recommended three-year contract with Quest Food Management of Lombard for district food services and approved the personnel report as presented.
All motions described on the agenda were moved and seconded and carried on roll call. The minutes record board members answering 'Aye' on the roll calls for the consent and subsequent motions. After completing open-session business, the board moved into closed session for collective negotiating matters, student disciplinary cases and personnel-related matters.
The approvals formalize planning steps for the Weyrich Auditorium renovation, set a roofing contract to address a specified roof section for $416,015, and secure a multi-year vendor for school meals; the transfer reduces the district contribution to the capital fund because federal IDEA grant dollars offset part of a project cost. The ISBE grant authorization allows the district to pursue additional state funds for permanent improvements.
Next procedural steps include execution of the approved vendor agreements, pursuing the ISBE grant application and implementing budgeting adjustments referenced during the Business Services report. The board recessed briefly and then entered closed session at 7:44 p.m. for negotiations and student- and personnel-related matters.
