The board approved an agreement permitting DeSoto County to use the BankPlus Parks & Recreation building as a county polling place. City staff said the move will align city, county and state polling locations for voters in affected districts and is not intended to change existing city polling-place designations.
Aldermen discussed whether Ward 6 city elections could be consolidated at Cornerstone but staff clarified the county agreement only addresses county polling location use of the facility. The mayor asked staff to continue outreach and provide a voting-location link on the citys website to help residents find their polling places.
A motion to authorize the mayor to sign the agreement carried on roll call.
