Rowan commissioners rescind ineligible appointments, discuss flag redesign and America 250 plans

Parks staff presented a short update on local plans for America 250 (the national bicentennial observance). The county received a $10,000 state grant for America 250 programming and county staff said they had discussed a match with the Tourism Development Authority. Staff proposed Sloan Park as a preferred venue for a potential June 13 kickoff; commissioners asked staff to return with funding tiers and a plan for partners and logistics.
The board entered closed session under North Carolina law to consider approval of prior closed-session minutes and to consult with counsel; the board later returned and announced there was no action to report from the closed session. A motion to adjourn carried by voice vote.
