The Solid Waste Management Authority approved a one-time, one-year 10% stipend for a single exempt employee to acknowledge extraordinary work implementing a new ERP accounting system.
Director said the extra workload "has fallen almost entirely on Catherine Brewer, our office and gate manager," and recommended a one-time 10% increase for the fiscal year to compensate the additional hours. Director said the stipend equates to less than $9,000 and is coverable within the authority's budget.
Commissioners asked whether the stipend would be tied to the position or the individual; Director said the payment is not fixed to the position and is a single-year acknowledgment. Commissioners also confirmed the stipend would be back-paid for work already performed.
A motion to adopt the resolution passed on recorded vote; Michelle (clerk) recorded affirmative responses from the commissioners present. The board directed staff to ensure knowledge transfer so the responsibilities do not remain concentrated in a single person during future transitions.
