Klimbs said events and programs have increased this year, with 272 special events on public property and more than 31,000 rounds of golf — the highest total since 2011–12. He reported the Riverview Center project is out to bid with responses due the next day and expects council consideration of bids at the first December meeting. The riverfront fountain project has been slowed by the need to replace 25 specialized nozzles, though concrete, plumbing and electrical work are complete.
Klimbs said the dome facility is moving toward operation, with a website due next week and programming (youth gymnastics, volleyball and other leagues) ramping up. He noted a planned $160,000 car-pass project as a high-priority capital item and described conversion of several park areas to multi-use fields funded by private donations to support tournaments.
Council members asked about Greenwood Cemetery monument management; Klimbs described vendor changes, repurposing of a chapel building for community celebrations, and shifting office operations so city staff handle cemetery appointments and inquiries.
