Commissioners approve routine contracts, budget amendments and appointments

At their Nov. 18 meeting, Lawrence County commissioners approved a set of routine items including a new early-intervention contract, a Staples contract renewal, a conservation-board reappointment, and a $9,000 budget allocation to the district attorney’s office from DEA task-force funds.
The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 18 approved several routine administrative actions, including contracts, budget transfers and an annual appointment to the county conservation district board.
Among the items approved were:
- Resolution 375: A new contract with Therapeutic Early Intervention Services (Pittsburgh) to provide early-intervention assessments and services from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. County staff said the service is reimbursed by the state and carries no county-dollar budget impact; the board approved the contract by roll call.
- Resolution 376: Renewal of the county-wide Staples Business Advantage account. County procurement staff said the Staples agreement provides faster delivery and account management controls that prevent departments from exceeding budgeted amounts. Commissioners approved the amended agreement by roll call.
- Resolution 377: Reappointment of a county commissioner to the conservation district board for a one-year term. The chair proposed reappointing himself; the motion carried 2–0 with 1 abstention recorded.
- Resolution 378: A budget amendment to accept $9,000 in unbudgeted revenue to the district attorney’s office from a DEA task force. The board approved allocating $7,000 to the DA overtime line and $2,000 to vehicle expenses.
The board also approved smaller intra-departmental transfers: $1,000 from planning contingency to a lease/access line item and an $11,000 sheriff’s office transfer (split $2,500 for uniforms, $7,000 for vehicle expense and $1,500 for materials and supplies). Earlier in the meeting the board accepted warrant registers listing county checks for Nov. 10 and Nov. 13 and adopted the minutes of the Nov. 12 meeting.
In announcements, the chair noted schedule changes for upcoming county and election-board meetings, reminded the public that the courthouse will be closed for Thanksgiving on Nov. 27–28, and reported that three newly elected judges will take office in early January. The board also opened a public-defender hiring process: a memo went to the Lawrence County Bar Association and the county will accept resumes and letters of intent through Dec. 1 with the aim of taking hiring action by mid-December.
No substantive public testimony was offered during the public-comment periods.
