Board approves Lake County agreement to repair three lift stations for up to $317,500

The Riverwoods Board of Trustees authorized an agreement with the Lake County Department of Public Works for repair and replacement work at three village lift stations — Chicory, Thorngate and Trillium — for a not-to-exceed amount of $317,500.
Director Webb said the county recommended replacing pumps, piping and installing new control panels; some panels currently sit below base flood elevations and the village intends to raise panel boards out of the floodplain, with engineering to be sought through GHA. Webb said the county had built replacement panel boards that have been waiting for installation and that county crews recently performed emergency repairs at another station, demonstrating capacity to act quickly.
Trustees asked whether sending the work to bid would yield better prices; Director Webb and Attorney Hoover said the county is familiar with the stations and the pricing reflects the county’s relationship and historical agreement. Trustees also discussed service-road impacts at the Thorngate location and possible additional costs for moving panels to improve snow-plow access.
The motion to approve the agreement carried by roll call; trustees indicated the village will coordinate engineering for any elevation/relocation work and include any unfinished costs in next year’s budget if the county cannot complete the work before year-end.
